Hi, I am Walter and I grew up in an environment where I had access to learn how many things work and how to fix them when they didn't. This was very educational, it was also what lead me to learning why things were made the way they were, giving me insight on ways to improve how things were made. At this young age it was exciting and fun to see what I could create with steel by cutting it with a torch and welding it back together. I explored the world around me looking for things that I could use to substitute when I needed that perfect piece to complete a project. If nothing seemed to work then my imagination moved me to make it from scratch.
Now with my wife really liking jewelry, (imagine that) and me being exposed more to it, I started thinking I could make that stuff! This is before I knew what I was getting into. Anyway it was soon evident I knew very little about working with precious metals, heck I could barely see the silver I was trying to cut with a saw blade that you can not even see the teeth on. Hmm. I discovered at this point it is all about scale, I just had to think smaller and pay attention to the fine detail. My wife was a great inspiration at this (men can read between the line on this comment). Getting to this level of course was achieved after both of use attended the metalsmithing classes at the local technical college as well as seminars around the country put on by some well known experts in the field. I must admit the knowledge that is shared in the jewelry market has surprised and inspired me.
Working with sterling silver has its challenges but also the rewards, especially when a piece comes out sparkling and the gemstone colors really stand out. Since going to the Tucson Gem shows our inspiration is never lacking. We found so many unique gemstones with such character that we that we just had to buy. This gives us the opportunity to feed the creative needs within us and hopefully create a piece of jewelry that you will cherish for many years.
I would hope that by sharing something about me and my life it might reflect something similar in your life and perhaps inspire you to develop an inherent ability. Please enjoy our work as shown on our website and feel free to let us know your thoughts.
Our design style is a mix of classic, contemporary, and eclectic. It incorporates clean lines, curves, and geometric shapes. Most of our jewelry includes one or more cultured pearls, precious or semiprecious gemstones, which is why color and the shape of a stone is often the first step in a design. Our beaded jewelry, also incorporates Swarovski crystals Murano, Venetian, and Czech glass. Finding the right color combinations and incorporating complementary gemstones can often prove challenging and is a major part of the overall design process. Texture and the way a piece is assembled are other important aspects of the overall design and we incorporate these in every piece we create. All our work is made by hand in our studio using time-honored fabrication methods.
Much of our jewelry is one-of-a-kind, so once an item is sold, it cannot be duplicated. It may be possible to make a similar piece; so please e-mail us with the details, and we can work together to create your one-of-a-kind piece.
We hope you find our pieces beautiful, something that can be worn on a daily basis as well as on special occasions and that you would be proud to give as a gift.
